Tim Franks presents Newshour, the flagship news and current affairs programme on BBC World Service radio. The show usually comes from London, but Tim regularly takes it on the road, and has presented from – among other places -- Gaza, Jerusalem, Ethiopia, Venezuela, South Sudan, China, Dagestan, Turkey and the US.
Until 2010, Tim spent nine years on the road, as an award -winning foreign correspondent, based in Jerusalem, Brussels and Washington. His spell abroad followed six years at Westminster, as a BBC political correspondent.
Between 2010 and 2013, Tim was a sports correspondent. He’s also had spells presenting Today, The World at One, The World this Weekend, and Hardtalk.
Tim joined the BBC in 1990, after reading Chinese at Oxford.
